Brevard Rescue Mission is a 12-24 month transitional housing program committed to provide shelter and invest in the personal and professional development of homeless mothers with children.LEARN MORE
Much more than homeless shelters, our homes are designed to provide a safe, structured, long-term residential environment where families receive individualized care plans based on their specific needs. Our “Casa Carol” apartment complex in Melbourne houses 8 families. Our other apartment complex “Joy’s Place,” just down the road, houses 5 families.
In 2019, First Baptist Melbourne will be collaborating with BRM to open a new “Treehouse” facility. The church is allowing us to use this 5,000+sf Melbourne home, which will enable us to expand our program to serve an additional five- six families.
Each homeless mother we serve is assigned a personal Case Manager to walk alongside her through this transitional process.LEARN MORE
The transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency is achieved through five-stages: Stabilize, Strategy, Strengthen, Send Forth and Support. Each homeless mother we serve is assigned a personal Case Manager to walk alongside her through this transitional process. Through one-on-one counseling, we assist with housing, access to health care, transportation, education, nutrition, job training and life skills in a safe, residential setting.
Kid’s Club is our prevention program designed to break the generational cycle of poverty and homelessness.LEARN MORE
We provide a safe atmosphere of consistency and a stable foundation with activities designed to fill critical gaps in learning; academically, spiritually and socially. While moms attend classes, children meet with trained staff and volunteers three times a week in Kid’s Club. Valuable learning opportunities are experienced through play and children enjoy nutrition and cooking classes; character development activities; sports lessons; field trips and enrichment programs; holiday observances; homework assistance and reading programs.
Each family works with a Case Manager to create an individualized care plan for life skills training.LEARN MORE

Our families are offered all the physical, spiritual and intellectual tools and resources needed to get out of poverty, off of government assistance, and create a better future for themselves and their children. BRM moms have gotten their GEDs, some have been licensed in the fields of Cosmetology, EKG/Phlebotomy, Medical Coding & Billing, Massage Therapy, Insurance, Child Care, Medical Assistance, Certified Nursing Assistance, and other careers. More than 90% of our graduates have continued their living wage jobs! They continue to remain part of the BRM family and come back to offer encouragement to our new residents.
